Thriving in the midst of the fire

I've been drawn to Aspen trees for years. While painting in New Mexico among Aspen forests, God began to reveal more of their amazing spiritual significance.

Aspens grow in high altitudes, stretching straight and tall toward the brilliance of the sun. They flourish near running water. But Aspens also indirectlyCome Together benefit from fire. They are the first to seed and blossom afterwards, replenishing and thriving in the open sunlight amid the burned landscape.

Aspens grow best in community-dependent colonies or groves. Their root system is long-lived, often for thousands of years. When one tree dies another tree regenerates from a sprout produced from the same root. So a grove of hundreds or thousands of trees is actually a single living organism. When disconnected, they are blown and bent by the wind and may become diseased.

We, too, grow and mature in the high places of His presence. The trials of our fires need not destroy us but rather cause us to be renewed and replenished by His unceasing love and grace. All of us are born out of One, and we will only thrive and withstand the fires and the heavy winds set against us as we are linked together on earth in community and interdependence. Then, and only then, will we advance this supernaturally relational Kingdom of God.

Aim and Fire

Aim and Fire is a commissioned work I did to express one woman's vision of the Warrior King Jesus on His galloping white Aim and Firehorse with arrow drawn. As her vision progressed, she understood that she was becoming the powerful arrow that Jesus was preparing to release.

Painting this vision, I was reminded of Isaiah 49:2: "He has made my mouth like a sharp sword. He has hidden me in the shadow of His hand.  He has made me a shining arrow, keeping me in His secret place." As we abide in the Lord and are completely yielded to His will, WE become the arrow that He propels into our destiny.

If you are interested in having your vision or dream painted, please email me. To see other commissioned pieces I have done, please click
