Finding God in the dark cloud

There is a big difference between taking a trip and embarking on a journey. A trip is usually planned out with a specific time and destination in mind and little allowance for taking the "off roads" to explore. We sometimes prefer the security and practicality of this mode of travel.

On the other hand, a journey, especially one that is Spirit led, can take many twists and turns. It may take us places we really don't want to go and at times we may find ourselves completely in the dark. Sometimes the Lord You are therenot only allows us to stay in the dark, but He puts us there to discipline and teach us to hear and obey Him.

Song birds are taught to sing in the dark....that place with no distractions. God puts us into "the shadow of His hand" until we learn to hear His voice (Isaiah 49:2).  "Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops" (Matthew 10:27). Hearing, speaking, singing in the dark. I do believe He even intends us to be, as the old song says, dancing in the dark.

Darkness is the time to listen. We will speak in the wrong mood unless we wait for the light. We will be tempted to complain and grumble, even curse God in the midst of it. Don't. Just listen and obey. Some of my greatest breakthroughs and revelation for expressing God's heart on canvas have been the result of a time of "darkness."

Sometimes God's presence is strongest where He dwells in a dark cloud (I Kings 8:12). Thank you, Lord, that You are there, patiently waiting for our full attention.

New this month in the Gallery

Tree of LifeTree of Life

God placed the tree of life in the middle of His garden so that man could freely partake of eternal life in unbroken fellowship with his Creator. Even after man was denied access to the tree, God made provision through Jesus for fellowship to be restored.

A time is coming again when trees will grow on both sides of the river of life, yielding fruit each month. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing (Ezekiel 47:12).

Discover your supernatural creativity

On February 23, I led an art seminar, Discovering Your Supernatural Creativity, at a conference in Asheville, NC. What a blast! Most attending the conference with Mickey and Barbara Robinson participated in the art seminar as well. For some, it was the first time for them to paint in a long, long time (say, elementary school). Creativity that had long been dormant was released in all areas of their lives.

Remember, creativity is not just relevant to the arts. It applies to whatever God has put on our hearts to do. Our Creator desires and expects us to co-create with Him in every area. Now that's not a bad creative team to have!

Until now I have been "following the cloud" to places that allowed me to paint in powerful teaching and worship sessions. Now I believe I am to "follow the cloud" also to places hungry to be released into new levels of creativity. A release of creativity not only affects individuals but their sphere of influence. It causes them to thrive and actually SHINE so others take notice and want what they have, even without uttering a word. St. Francis said, "Wherever you go preach the gospel and when absolutely necessary, use words." Creative actions DO speak louder than words!

I would love to talk with you if you are interested in hosting an art seminar at your conference or church.  Please email me at Janice@JVCartworks.com for more information.
